1st SAFEMODE Dissemination Workshop


On 15th December at 10:00 CET the first dissemination workshop of the SAFEMODE project (Strengthening synergies between Aviation and maritime in the area of human Factors towards achieving more Efficient and resilient MODE of transportation) will take place virtually (3 hours duration). 


You are cordially invited to participate to the first workshop. 


The SAFEMODE has been awarded under the EU Horizon 2020 programme. General aim of SAFEMODE is to develop a novel Human Risk Informed Design (HURID) framework in order to identify, collect and assess data for Human Factors. HURID will enable risk-based design of transport systems and operations, in the aviation and maritime sectors.


The objective of this workshop is to present the main outcomes of the project:


-SHIELD: Human Factors Risk Event Database in aviation and maritime

-Human-Factors-based risk models

-Human Assurance Toolkit

-HURID framework to support design, operations, and continuous monitoring

The SAFEMODE project will participate in the 4th Global Conference on Innovation in Marine Technology and the Future of Maritime Transportation (GMC’21), 18-19 November 2021; by University of Strathclyde (USTRAT) and will present part of SAFEMODE tasks: ‘Data repository and accident analysis; what experts need to know’.


45th Annual Interferry Conference


The SAFEMODE project will participate in the 45th Annual Interferry Conference (02-06 October 2021) and will present ‘Human Factors integration into systems design and operations as an enabler of safety and customer excellence for the ferry industry’; by World Maritime University (WMU) and Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corporation (APFC).


Participation to OPTICs2 Final Dissemination Event


The SAFEMODE project participated in the Optics2 project final dissemination event. Deep Blue Ltd presented the paper titled “Effective Learning from Safety Events Reporting Takes Two: Getting to the Root&Just Culture”, regarding project developments!!


Meeting with CHIRP & MCA


A positive discussion took place between SAFEMODE project, the Confidential Human Factors Incident Reporting Programme (CHIRP) and Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) about ways forward to enhance Human Factors learning from reporting in the maritime industry and the application of the SHIELD Human Factors taxonomy.
